I sat down with the intention to write something else, but somehow THIS one just flowed. It started off with the line "The darling buds of May..." which comes from Shakespeare's Sonnet 18, a line that has been shared as an inside joke between a friend and me. I thought it would be a nice line for a song, so I searched for the entire sonnet tonight and read more. Here, I've modified lines from Sonnets 17, 18 and 20 and added my own, "You're the life that brings the shine into my eyes".
I spent the night recording this on Garage Band with the standard Mac mic, and had a lot of fun. The mix is nowhere near perfect--I don't really know how to do it, but I like it raw like that. I think it works well for now. Especially with this screen shot that I had taken from the movie "Submarine"...
Thanks for listening. Please check out my other songs on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/thevouls

If I could write the beauty of your eyes
The age to come would say that this poet truly lies
And if a child of yours were still alive at that time
You would live twice, in it and in my rhyme
You're the life that brings the shine into my eyes
You're the life that brings the shine into my eyes
Shall I compare you to a summer's day
But you are more lovely and more temperate
The rough winds they shake the darling buds of May
But your eternal summer will not fade
For you're the life that brings the shine into my eyes
For you're the life that brings the shine into my eyes
With April's first flowers and all things rare
Of all those golden candles fixed in heaven's air
With sun and moon, with earth and all the riches of the sea
Believe me my love is just as fair
You're the life that brings the shine into my eyes
You're the life that brings the shine into my eyes
You're the life that brings the shine into my eyes
You're the life that brings the shine into my eyes
