  • it's a beautiful bird, but i didn't hear the hoot!

  • Video taken from 150 yds distance through a telescope. Too far for the tiny microphone of my digital compact camera.

  • I couldn't hear the hooting either, but a great bird. Except for the size (and that requires the right background to be able to tell), I can't tell an eagle owl from a Great Horned Owl. Are they very close? For instance, could they mate and reproduce?

  • well, they both form a "superspecies", but their DNA is different + there are no eurasian eagle Owls in America. so they just CAN'T interbreed!

  • He doesn't give a hoot.

  • many animals in the same genus can interbreed. Jaguars don't live on the same continent as lions-but they can interbreed- horned owls & eagle olws could probabbly do so...

  • Thanks for the good answer. Of course, in captivity it could be engineered if it were possible, as in the case of the liger (a species that could never be produced in the wild).

  • Sorry, I didn't hear it!

  • amazing! lucky for you to find such a great bird!
