is there supposed to be a ratio to follow?is there supposed to be more of the salt to the methanol or methanol to salt?

Methanol is not magic. Could even use brandy.

Would be nice if colors were related to element emission spectra.
Could have done many more to make more interesting. Also relating to fireworks would have added to narrative.
Calcium (lime from garden store) red
Copper (root killer from hardware store) blue
Iron (iron supplement pills) gold
Sodium (salt) intense yellow
Zinc (zinc oxide cream) bluish green
Do more!
