THIS IS A LONG VIDEO - If you just want to see the "kill" skip to around 2.00. But if you want to see the funny parts leading up to it, watch the whole vid! (Personally, my favourite part is at 00.56)

Since Xmas i'de noticed signs of rat activity in my garden. I baited with peanut butter, and bagged one rat in January. I didn't see any others for weeks, although the bait was still being eaten.

13.00 today I was doing some washing-up in the kitchen, and noticed this little fella taking some garlic bread crusts i threw out only 20 mins prior. I spread some peanut butter knowing he'de probably be back. Fetched my AA S410 and got ready. Sure enough he came back within a few minutes. It was the last thing he did. I waited for the right time to take the shot. I hate not being able to retrieve them, and i didn't fancy a dead rat under my shed. Good clean headshot, just at the base of the ear - rats will twitch alot after being shot.

Interestingly, both rats i've had in the garden have been around midday.

  • That is the biggest Rat I have ever seen, great shot Dude.

  • @69coquito it was pretty average size, probably about 14 or 15 inches nose to tail. The ones i shoot on the farms can be much bigger, sometimes over 18 inches (biggest i've shot was bang on 20 inches nose to tail).

  • Man that rat just couldn't make up it's mind! And are the rats always out I'n the middle of the day like that? Mine only come out at night.

  • @Doubleeagle111 this was the last one i saw in my garden. But on the farms i shoot at they are often out during the day.

  • Good Shot, What was it with though? 22 or 177 ?

  • @Acebauer2 Thanks dude. Its a .177

  • @GTEskee you clearly know f-all about shooting rats. Rats often twitch after being shot. It was a clean head shot, perfectly placed at the base of the ear. I do pest control on 2 farms, i've shot countless numbers of rats. I ONLY ever take head shots!!! Stick to commenting on things you know about bro...

  • @jtschid0910 I think its important to have respect for any living creature, whether they are vermin or not.

I shoot rats every week but i still respect them, and always strive to kill them quickly and cleanly.

Its never good to make an animal suffer, even if its a rat.
