HERE IS THE GAME IN ITS ENTIRETY. If you want to watch short clips i have also uploaded them on my page, 1st period is 6 minutes, 2nd period is 3 minutes, and 3rd period is 6 minutes long. The 3rd period contains the money shot - my championship winning goal in the last minutes. Ahhh glory days...

This is the highlight real of 1972 Pee Wee Blue championship game, where my team - The North Hollywood Bruins won the championship against the South Eastern Blues (I don't remember their where their home rink was). Alan Sloan who was the weather man on ABC did the excellent commentary giving it the feel of a NHL caliber game. I score the tying goal in the last minute to give us the championship. Watch the 3rd period for true break away excitement. Please excuse the quality of the video. This was shot on a Sony 1/2" real-to-real deck so the are many dropped frames and glitches.

Our home rink was The Ice Capades Chalet in North Hollywood, which is no longer there due to damage in the 1994 Northridge quake, and this was shot at the Culver City Ice Arena. The kings practiced there at one time....

I have probably missed some of the players names so please excuse me...it's only been 39 years.

  • I believe Andy Cobb posted this video.

There were a couple of Cobb brothers who lived in Whittier/La Mirada and played for the Southeastern Blues. One of them played on one of my teams. Any relation?

  • @MrMichaelH7 Yes, I did post this. I don't know the Cobb brothers. Cobb is a fairly common name...

  • If I remember correctly the North Hollywood rink was located in a mall.

The Southeastern Blues home rink was in Norwalk (on Rosecrans and Shoemaker). The rink no longer exists.

It was a small rink with a brick wall on one side and the boards were very short (in case this jogs your memory). The LA Sharks (remember that team) held its practices there.

  • @MrMichaelH7 It was. The Ice Capades Chalet which was at "May Co. mall" at Oxnard and Laurel Canyon. That mall no longer exists as it was damaged in the '94 quake. A lot of memories were bulldozed when it was torn down. I don't remember you rink. I was in the south bay recently and stopped in at Bay Harbors old rink. It was actually kinda nice as they'd remodeled.

  • I remember the Culver City ice rink very well and played quite a few games there over the years. You are correct about the LA Kings using this facility as there practice ice.

When I was in college, I was invited to play with the Kings just prior to their training camp at the Culver City Rink. I played with Dave Taylor as well as several other Kings. One of the rooms, was dedicated to the Kings with private lockers and gym equipment that the players used as part of their conditioning program.
