Before you go ranting and raving, please get your facts right. Obviously comparing a 4k camera with a 1080p isn't exactly fair. What you're getting with the 5d mkii or the 7d is phenomenal for the pricetag.

And 30,000 for a Red setup? Maybe if you were you Nikon glass with the bare minimum. The Red doesn't compete with Imax. True Imax film is around 18k (though we can't do a telecine with that resolution yet). And the Red can be hand held? And the Canon can't? Please don't spread crazy rumors.

I have no interest in or understanding of cameras, photography or film making but for some reason found this clip really watchable. I think it's just that I enjoy listening to people talk fluently and knowledgeably about something they're enthusiastic about, even if I don't understand more than one word in three. Is that weird or normal?

Actually, that's called a "WASTE OF MONEY."

Whoever would spend $3,500 on a camera to shoot video that OVERHEATS every 20 to 45 minutes, and then adds on another $4k in accessories and tries to pass it off as a "CINEMA FILM CAMERA" is INSANE.

It amazes me the numbers of people buying these cameras up because they can shoot video, but they have no idea they only shoot 12 minutes of video, and overheat regularly in all conditions.

Sorry, but if I spend $8k, it will be on a REAL VIDEO CAMERA

@DistantlandsEnt Still Photography and Videography/Cinematography are NOT and will NEVER be the same profession. Sure there are many cross overs, but they are each their own profession and art form that take skills, talent and experience to master.

Everyone needs to remember one thing. All these Cameras are just TOOLS to get a job done.

Just OWNING good tools doesn't make you a craftsman. It takes Knowledge, Skill and years of experience.
