Got a 5W LED from DealExtreme, mounted on a heatsink and used it to enlighten my kitchen sink. The heatsink has been quipped with thin magnets on the back.
The LED is driven at 6V/0.32A, that's about 2W, way less than its official power.
So this video compares 2x20W halogen lamps (warm white) with a 2W LED (cold white).
The amount of light on the sink is comparable with the halogens on the cooking area.
