I'm pretty sure your family was better off than these people. It's their fault because they're born into that lifestyle???? So it's a kids fault if their parents beat them for fun?? Migrant farmworkers don't have a choice they either work or starve.

yeah, kids need lots of friends. Just like the dozen or more kids in my high school class that died because they went to parties with their friends, drank alcohol with their friends and crashed their cars with their friends. But I was stuck on the farm learn the value of hard work and now have a good job with a family and lots of friends.

Who did "these types of jobs" before the illegals started doing them? They say the same thing about carpentry work, that Americans simply didn't want to do it. They did want to do it, but they didn't want to do it at half pay. Globalists (whether liberal ''diversity at all costs'' or lazez faire capitalists "cheap labor at all costs'' all say the same crap.

Globalization has turned the whole world into a slave market. Our stoop labour is consigned to people of color, "guest workers" (not coolies!), prison labour in privatised prisons, etc. Was a report that the most dreaded "farm" work in California is picking strawberries: wrecks their backs and burns them out around age 30.

the work ethic of Americans has dramatically declined over the the past 30 years. Child obesity rate is at a record high. Their education is a joke. I'm 27. My generation is the first or second generation of decline. To think that children doing work is a bad thing. My point of view comes from 3 generations (that I've had the privilege to know) of poor small farmers working their way to a better life. I am off the farm now, but when I have children they will be working of the family farm.

To compare a general population with your narrow anecdotal experience is silly.

There are other ways of teaching the value of work (i.e. career expos, job shadowing, take your "____" to work) that do not exploit vulnerable children.
