Hmmm,the silicone is waterproof, so I would try just rinsing off the dishsoap. If you are gentle it might not wreck the paper. Let me know how it works out.

when you dispense the silicon do u press down the back part as well as the front part?

Well, it's usually best to follow directions exactly the first time. You might be able to make a simple version by just notching straws, taping string to the end and putting the string inside.
