when you dispense the silicon do u press down the back part as well as the front part?

No, I'm afraid it's educational but not terribly functional.

erm my friends and i are thingking of doing this for our science project, but the thing is, do we need to get all the exact things used in this vid? thanks a lot

Well, it's usually best to follow directions exactly the first time. You might be able to make a simple version by just notching straws, taping string to the end and putting the string inside.

Hmmm,the silicone is waterproof, so I would try just rinsing off the dishsoap. If you are gentle it might not wreck the paper. Let me know how it works out.
