People should ASK before patting ANY dog, but it's so important not to disturb a service or assistance dog at work. Keep in mind that an assistance dog may be wearing a harness or vest, but there is no legal requirement that it do so. ASK!!! And, remember, assistance dogs are allowed public access, whether you are allergic or not, whether they shed or not, and whether you like it or not. These are not pets (passing a pet off as a service dog is against federal law), they are helping someone!
