    Most likely the natives used a wooden holding device and an antler punch.

    This rig allows great control with a direct pressure. Sollberger made a similar setup using only wood and leather. So it is possible, but not likely...

  • How about using a torsion devise instead of arm strength? One or two circle of rope. One around the lever and the other around something that wont move. Stick a lever between the loops and start twisting until the flute comes off. Sound good?

  • @Tillered I have imagined that in some configurations, but I haven't tried them.

    Any mechanical advantage should be helpful!
