@califgirl11 Yes, Jesus wanted John to care for his mother, in his home. I assume that would be if her children could no longer care for her. She did have other children. Mary has no authority to hear you're prayers, nor can she answer them. She lived a long life and then died. Jesus never referred to her as "mother." It was always "woman" or Mary. I was a bible student for over 2 years. When we die..we stay dead until the resurrection. Mary is dead,. She cannot hear you.

@HeatherGlen33 Maybe you did not realize as a Catholic, that Catholic do pray and ask Mary for help. Jesus told us in the Book of John...."Behold your Mother" Jesus was giving us his Mother, giving his Mother to the world as our Mother too. We do not worship her, we hold her in high regard. I was a Protestant who became a Catholic. I have learned more about the bible since becoming Catholic, than from any other church. We read from the OT and the Gospel at every Mass.
