Why not just get a drum machine for the fraction of the price?
-
@dokumentary Wow, that's not how manufacturing and markup work. $180 x 1,000,000 and they're still going to go broke
-
@dokumentary True! I'm suprised they aren't sold like crazy as a plastic model. I mean..really..having a quilted wood finish really that important? Even acrylic would be fine. The thing could light up. I would actually rather have a kit with the finger pads to make my own!

i think is better a Wave drum......
-
doesn't take a zero off the price to make it tho.

Don't talk crap...if it's not you!!?.. it's not you!!... Same stuff was when modular synths came around.. Play however you like man!!! whatever you like!!!! But personally I love a good live kit..
-
guess you should change your perspective then... :)

I went to see a band play on Friday night and instead of a drum kit this guy is sitting on a stool and tapping onto a piece of wood with film-canister caps on it. I find out afterwards it's one of these Zendrums. Analysis? I guess it did the job, is practical and it sounded fine, but the coolness factor was down in the negative zone -- it looked like he was playing a video game, not the drums. It was a visual distraction and I missed the kit in a big way . . .

wow...sorry to shit on your passion but this sucks! Playing drums are about having a sophisticated connection with your body not a midi interface

Then you'd either have to sacrifice quality or sell less than cost. Either one is not what the creator wants to do. These things are all hand made and gorgeous instruments.
Cool, but not $1800 bucks cool. Simple marketing=Take a zero off the end and sell 100X more of the product. Increase your market base and make the same amount of money, if not more.
