Tim Riley & The Southmen - Let The Lower Lights Be Burning

Tim Riley & The Southmen with some help from Mark Trammell at the Bevill Center in Boaz, AL. April 10, 2009. Fantastic lead here from Tim. I love Mark's reaction to the last note.

  • ( I love Mark's reaction to the last note.) Agreed! :)

  • I love Mark's reaction when Tim goes down at the end of the verse.

  • @floofytown That's hilarious LOL!!!

  • Somebody please tie up that pianists hands forever.

  • Ray Dean Reese isn't even a bass singer, he's a baritone that sings bass, kinda like Bill Gaither. On all the Kingsmen songs where he had to go low, the rest of the group had to get real quiet so you could hear him.

  • Wow, I can't believe that anyone with an ear for music could deny that Tim Riley is the smoothest, fullest and lowest bass singer that has ever lived! If you would just listen to all the singers objectively then you should come to the same conclusion! Not taking anything away from the others but Tim Riley is AWESOME!!!

  • I'm sorry if I offended anybody, The late George Younce is my favorite bass singer, and I do think a lot of Tim Riley, Ray Dean Reece, Tracy Stuffle, The Late JD Sumner, Mike Holcomb, Rex Nelon, London Parris, Buddy Lyles, Ed O'neal, Herman Harper, and even Richard Sterben, even though he don't sing with a full time gospel group, they still sing their roots, and make time for it in their programs. And even Harold for the Statler Brothers, along with others. Thats what makes a good gospel group.

  • @jalsante75 ...This argument is so old. George and Tim are the most incredible bass singers ever. Can't compare them because they both are totally awesome in their own way. I agree with Tigerlilly. With the exception of Harold Gilley, the rest pale in comparison. The rest all lack the combination of body and depth that George and Tim possessed. BTW, JD is so overrated! He just sang low. and most of it sounded like it was coming out of his rear.

  • @TheShospitali....maybe because he felt like it...who gives a rip? Ray Reece ahead of Tim Riley? HAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @tigerlilly66 =

This conversation is going nowhere fast, and is therefore now concluded.

    Have a nice life
