MUSIC: Amaranth - Nightwish

This is my 7th Knex model roller coaster (at least, my 7th good one). I originally intended to style it after an Intamin giga-coaster, but it looks like some B&M-hyper found its way in there too ;) Construction began in mid-February, and it took a long time to build it. I made many changes to the layout during the building process as well. I have to say this was the most fun I've ever had building a model knex roller coaster.

FAQ:

Q: How many Knex sets do you have?
A: I don't know exactly how many, but I have at least 10 Screamin' Serpents, 2 Rippin' Rockets, and a lot of other assorted pieces

Q: How long did it take you to build?
A; About 4 months. I re-did the drop and first hill several times so that was a big part of the building process.

Q: How did you make it work automatically?
A: I used my Lego Mindstorms NXT robot to operate the motors for the lift hill, station, and brake run.

Q: What camera did you use for the POV?
A: I took a small Panasonic point-and-shoot camera and attached it to the front car, then pushed it through the coaster.

Q: How tall is it?
A: 7.5 long gray rods, or about 6 feet.

Q: What program did you use to make the video?
A: Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0

Q: The drop shakes.
A: I know, I really wanted to fix that but by the time I finished the coaster, I had completely run out of pieces.

Q: How do the brakes work?
A: The brakes are side-friction brakes, kind of like the ones on Millennium Force. That means that the tubing rubs on the sides of the trains, which slows it down. Then there is a chain drive on the track which pushes the train into the station.

  • 10,000 views! Thanks to all my subscribers. I also need to thank SSCoasters and the members there for helping me become a good builder and for even being becoming a good friend to me. Stay tuned! Tron's video is coming soon, and in the fall I will be starting another coaster that just might turn out even better than Steel Force. Thanks again!

  • @oneillperson WOW!!! 2,000 views in only 3 weeks? :D!!

  • Wow! This is great! I have a few questions. 1. How did you get the POV? 2. What camera did you use? 3. What program did you use to edit? 4. How long did it take you to make this, and what sets and how many pieces did you use?

  • @SebiStudios2 All of your questions are answered in the FAQ, located in the video's description.

  • can u make a tutorial on the lift hill plz

  • @shanethedistruct Well, not really, since I don't have enough spare pieces right now. But what I did, was I build half of the structure flat on the ground to make sure it was shaped nicely. Then I make a copy of that, and connected them together to form the structure of the lift.

Why did I do that? Because my lift can't stand up by itself while I'm building, since it has no extra support in the middle.
