One of the gold standards for the aria I reckon. But when we talk about poor taste v good taste, it's completely subjective isn't it. I mean, some people prefer Villazon singing this. Fair enough: that's up to them.

He has a very handsome voice. Very tasteful singing.

Magnificent, fresh, convincing singing. Someone mentioned that the acting was less good. Try moving around and gesticulating when singing an aria of this complexity and speed...besides which in the baroque theatre there was very little acting to mention: one sang centre stage. A very good-looking, superb- sounding baroque singer. I really do not believe one could or indeed should ask for more!

The ornamentation at the end is not in poor taste at all--it's very good, and he sings it beautifully. Handel's tenor parts are quite low, and it's nice to hear a tenor with a good lower register. A wonderful perfomance.
