The House Education and Labor Committee holds an investigative hearing into student loan practices with New York Attorney General Cuomo, who has been leading the effort to crack down on what he views as "predatory lending." We weren't given a choice on our student loans. You took what they gave you and thats it. You couldnt choose a certain lender for GSL. They had no documentation as to what you were signing for. Then the government bought all the student loans and changed the provisions of your promissory notes without your approval.

This lawyer and his firm totally cashed in with SallieMae and all the banks involved when they settled.

I guarantee he and his grandchildren's grandchildren are now set up with very sweet trust funds.

Once you find a good one, take out as little as you can as well - it will help you out in the future.

Ironic. He gives SUNY a clean bill of health while condemning state schools of OTHER states and private schools in and outside NYS - claiming he found no wrongdoing by SUNY officials. THEN he admits he COULDN'T investigate SUNY for any allegations because to do so would be a 'conflict of interest' Typical. I'll bet he'd find nothing wrong with Spitzer's banking - but the FBI did. If NYS' AG and the US Attorney refuse to investigate SUNY's crimes against students - who will?

Lenders loosing business? Should I lugh or cry. These landers are backed by government, as in if you dont pay due to unfortunate circumstances, at best your debt tripples and future wages are gurnished, at the worst all of you are assets are taken away. And till this day the practise still goes on. No action taken by government except the one that makes it even harder on students, this is all just one big giant crap.
