@jimitriskax Today it is true to say that Soundgarden rocks harder than Cash; 100 years from now, it will be safe to say, "Soundgarden who?" while visiting monuments dedicated to Johnny Cash.

Why would any Soundgarden fans take offense by this cover, including me??? Cash is an ICON, and Chris is probably honored by this. And it's great cover version btw. Love them both.

@McJeyd i don't know but Cash was the founding father of rock music,he started in 1955,he wrote rock songs before rock music was ever aired while serving in the Military,walk the line,cry cry cry and many others,now they claim he was the founding Father of Rock n Roll

@McJeyd This is Cash covering Soundgarden. A lot of Soundgarden fans take offense, but Chris Cornell is on the record as being honored to be covered by Cash. Used to work with someone who thought Social Distortion wrote "Ring Of Fire." Don't beat yourself up, that's what your fellow commenters are for!

To Cash's eternal credit, He covered a great song. And then did it justice in his own style. I dig both versions for what they are, hard rolling music about indomitable will.

I got a crazy idea that just might work...
why dont we say Soundgarden is brilliant for creating the song Johnny covered and JC himself is brilliant for covering the song and giving it a different but similar edge.
think about it people, obviously Johnny liked Soundgarden enough to play their song.
