TV would be complete with a vintage channel that catered for all old shows from the 50s to the late 70s, and after that things can be seen on GOLD channel.
Anyone offended by quality tv (none PC), please use your common sense, and turn to another channel.
Just purchased Charlie Drake THE WORKER series box set..a fantastic buy!
@Sootaroot But as I remember it, didn't he find one of her shoes at the end of every episode? Come to think of it , maybe it was Sylvia who found one of HIS shoes at the end of every episode. Either way, I'm pretty sure that at the end of every episode " a shoe was found", I just can't remember who found who's shoe. I know I felt robbed at the time.
I recall that Sylvia made one fleeting appearance with no clues as to what she looked like, just after Charlie had found one of her shoes which she evidently had lost.
elofan : object ? I don't think so !!! Thank you so much for posting this. It is the first time I have heard it since the series in 1967. The song and the show seem to have become part of a lost era. I recall that Charlie sang the song in one episode, in a railway station so that his voice was heard over the station's loudspeakers, and introducing it to camera as his new single.
Charlie Drake was one of the greatest physical comedians of his generation. Sadly, he had ambitions to be a 'serious' comedian, and larded his brilliant clowning with ideas which were as un-PC as they were trite.
I don't miss Jimmy Edwards, Dickie Henderson, or Dick Emery. But I do miss Charlie.
Is the tv series available on dvd ? I vaguely recall it in black and white as a child. I think he was trying to track down a lady named sylvia and each week there were clues to supposedly lead him to her. Not sure how it ended but only one series made. Hope its unearthed one day if it hasnt been wiped from the archives. Was shown on ITV I believe also.
Why would anyone object to the music or video? Its not offensive.

I remember that the identity of Sylvia was never revealed, which totally ruined it for me at the age of 8
