Stop the Hysteria #7 (日本語)

4/2 update from Japan. また日本語のストップ・ザヒステリアを作った。Though I disagree with their biased reporting, I realize now that it doesn't really matter what they the int'l media says. Individuals from many countries are sending hundreds of messages of support for Japan. THESE are the people we should be listening to.

An awkward problem is that the most people who insist on the danger of radiation from Fukushima Daiichi, believe they are on the justice side. And the question whether they are based on the science or not, is sometimes controversial as well. For example, I think the radiation level of 10 or 20 milli Sivert per year is harmless for adults. But there are many people who don't think so.

@TofuUnion Yes. This seems to be a major problem. Even the "experts" do not agree. Everyone seems to have "an agenda". So how can we mere mortals decide? The US and EU also use different measurement systems, which makes every report even more confusing. The historical data from Hiroshima and Nagasaki suggest that we are not in any serious danger. But it is difficult to tell the mother of any child in Fukushima not to worry. My heart goes out to them.

@domperrier LOL. Let's hope not. BTW, the damaged Fukushima #1 Nuclear Plant just withstood 9 aftershocks within one hour, the biggest one being 7.1 M (4/11 eve). That's in addition to the 7.4 M last Friday (4/8). Still a serious situation, according to the IAEA, but they are working on it 24/7.

今回の件について日本で取材していたジャーナリスト(CNN、F­OX等)やメディアを通し著しい誤りを報じた専門家にも弁解の余­地はないと思います。。March15もしも東電が(電源のない­中)vent作業でもしもミスをしていた場合、(他にも政府･東­電･放水のミッション(SDF･東京消防庁Tokyo Fire Department)全てがはじめての作業で極限の判断を求め­られた内のどこかで誤っていた場合) かなりの確立でチェルノブイリ級の損害・被曝となっていたでしょ­う。。もしそれが起こっていたとしたら在日外国人にどのような影­響を及ぼしていたかは計り知れません。((今回の著しくクオリテ­ィーの悪いレポート･取材能力(ジャーナリストではない素人のダ­ニエルさんの方が実際には機能していた事)は、15年以上日本で­生活されている方や"情報リテラシー"の高い方々は早い段階で理­解をされ大変危惧されていた事と思います。))これは日本語と英­語間の問題だけではなくその他の言語･文化間でも改善されるべき­(人命に関わる)問題で、今回日本で信頼を失った全てのメディア­は真摯に自分達の問題を分析し取材方法等の改善を図ってほしい。
