Kurds are frustrated by the slow pace of change in Turkey. Although recent political reforms have granted them more rights, change on the ground remains slow.

After centuries of prohibition, Kurdish can now be spoken freely. But many other restrictions remain in place. "It is forbidden to use Kurdish names with 'W' because the letter doesn't exist in the Turkish alphabet," complains Huseyin from the Pro-Kurdish party. Any broadcasts in Kurdish have to be vetted a month in advance and even non-political Kurdish music needs to be approved. "How can you produce news a month in advance? It's impossible," despairs editor Cemal Dogan. There are allegations that Kurdish villages are denied irrigation, forcing families to emigrate to the cities. The days of heavy handed police brutality may be over but a lot more still needs to be done before Kurds feel truly equal.

Turkey & Iraq should just let go & give the Kurds their own land, it's gonna happen eventually, would save so many lives & pain if they just did it NOW! The case is really very complicated , I don't say kurds are evil and at somepoint they are different than pkk , pkk wants a revolution ends with n independent state, kurds majority at least vote for equal rights rather than a revolution. Turkey is trying to provide it , it is a process though and will take time. pkk is hitting once in a while to stop the process , it is better now than 10 years ago it will be better than now 10 years late , but not with pkk.

Northern Iraq is where pkk lives , yes we can stay in our borders and wait for an attack but this woulld give many advantages to them, they can kill whenever they want and our troops would become sitting ducks. They can train and indoctrinate many men as armed militia , they might have regulate their trade and political actions very comfortably. We can't allow that. And we don't invade there we bomb and hit them than pull back.
