First board cut on my bandsaw. I built this over the last few weeks. The base frame is the mast of an old forklift. Axle is from a 14 ton military yard crane. The cutting head is all new... using 18.75" pulley wheels with urethane belts (tires). The drive motor is a hydraulic motor directly coupled to the pulley. I'm using a bobcat S220 skid steer to run the hydraulic motor... that is the noise you hear in the video. The saw itself makes very little noise when running.

As you can see, I still need to fabricate the blade guards, work on the head lifting, add a valve for controlling the motor. tons of other minor stuff to finish up. no big deal now that i know it will cut wood!!!

  • Should also fab something to hold the log in place. Don't need it twisting the blade and tearing it off and shooting it in the air. Otherwise nice build.

  • That's fabulous! Excellent fabrication. I don't think I've seen one before that is run by a hydraulic motor. Nice job!
