The reason China was so hard-hit by the snow was just because it's so completely not used to snow in anything but utterly miniscule amounts. On the news later there was footage of little shacks that had collapsed under the snowfall and people standing around in about a foot of snow talking about it like it was some kind of end-of-the-world calamity. They'd really never seen anything like it. Here's how the snow had to be dealt with as I neared the West Plaza mall.
