While this is true, it is also true that those institutional safeguards you speak of create a narrow-mindedness that hampers intellectual progress. You, for example, are the best source for information on NPD. Not a university, not a psychiatrist, not a psychologist. But you. Why is that? Because you live it.

So you are saying that the average person is stupid and therefore they should not be allowed the same rights as a smarter person? Dictators and social Darwinists have the same idea. That is a very dangerous ideology to carry and its probably a good thing that you are not in a position of power.

Bravo. Humans are primitive. The humans species is still in its infancy stage. Only a handful can think beyond what most people can comprehend.

I get bored talking to most people because they all sound the same, like they regurgitate tv sitcoms. And all young men have to be funny, insensitive and duplicitous it seems. Women have to be strong ( which means cruel to other women) and look like the typical northern euro the media presents. But everyone's nasty vicious and mean and they can all go to he'll in that case because I'm not impressed. I would like to have an intelligent conversation with an individual instead of a cult member but

Sorry you seem in so foul a mood about it. Doubt the rant will help, but I'm sure many, even the stupid, will agree... (I might even be one, according to today's parameters.)

[cont'd] When trying to squeeze into a hierarchy, too often the skill that counts is not the relevant skill itself, but the ability to persuade other people you have that skill or that you should have that position--to the detriment of the hierarchy's productivity. People--even intelligent people--value social skills more than talent/ability. This, I think, is the fundamental problem in a democracy, the reason that politicians in power seldom do what should be done.
This video reminds me of the book, The Narcissist Epidemic (TNE). Although Mr. Vaknin describes how we have a narcissist culture, TNE provides deeper explanation of how we got here.
Indeed, as Mr. Vaknin said, technology has made it easier for "the stupid" (who are prone to thinking they are better than they are...as a defence mechanism) to express themselves to more people.
Another catalyst explained in TNC is access to easy credit...where people can create their false self quicker.

@TheGoalSetter A whole chapter in my book "Malignant Self-love: Narcissism Revisited" is dedicated to the epidemic of narcissism. I coined the phrase in 1997, more than a decade before the book "The narcissism epidemic."
