Irwin in the buff: The scourge of San Sebastian

San Sebastian, 2 Sep (EFE), (Camera: Aitor Bengoa).- A naked Frenchman is making waves in San Sebastian, a chic beach resort in northern Spain.
Irwin, the man in question, is not a "nudist or an exhibitionist" but a "liberated person" who is vindicating his right to freedom of expression, he says.
The outings by the naked Frenchman, a native of Hendaya, are usually in and around the beach, but his cycling routes often take him into the central streets of the Basque city, to the astonishment of those who see him for the first time.
His trips have caused a certain amount of upset locally. The local Conservative group PP have asked for a toughening up of laws to sanction Irwin´s behaviour.
But Irwin believes it is "very unlikely" that this will happen because "no one wants to see fundamental rights infringed".
He acknowledges that he is sometimes insulted but adds that "the mouth speaks from the heart". It follows that if someone calls him a "pig" or "filthy", this reveals the state of their heart, therefore he recommends that those people "clean themselves out from within".
Irwin´s stance is straightforward. He believes his nakedness does not harm anyone. The only thing that causes harm, he says, is "intolerance of difference".

In this instance I think his actions ought to be acceptable in a reasonable society as he is in reasonable shape and does not have an ugly hairy bum. Howeverr, sadly, society is rarely reasonable.
