This video shows you Boot "Race" between Windows 8 Developer's Preview and Windows 7 Home Premium, both on the same 64 Bit PC.
--- SPECIFICATIONS ---
The following tests were performed on an (overclocked) 3.8 GhZ i7 machine with 6GB of RAM, a 2TB hard drive, an Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT, and connected to the Internet over Ethernet at a maximum speed of 20mbps.

@bavrije you do know you can change the default shutdown time of Win7 in regedit didnt you??

I benchmarked too, win 7 boots 1 second faster on my pc.
Win7: 11 sec
Win8: 12 sec
(counting bios & OEL)
Win8 shuts down faster though!

I also tried both... Win 8 is also absolute winner ... The startup speed of Win 8 on my computer is about the same as yours, however my Win 7 startup is much faster ... Are both of them fresh installation ? Or we are talking about 2-years old Win 7 vs fresh Win 8 ?
