Hi ! I'm not that satisfied about where I got tonight, but I found a way to get collisions working. I too handled walls disparition when camera is behind it, as for tall elements.

I never did stuff like that, so it kinda works but could look better... My graphist is still working on animations, don't bother the awful one when walking aiming, I did it myself using the south walking animation...

It's really a hard challenge, not easy to do at all. The fact that characters are sprites is really not helping.

I guess I'll come to something useful in a little.

  • Amazing stuff. I hope to do such similar project and I am searching what might be the best way to achieve it. I plan on using XNA since I am a C programmer and I am used to C#.

Are you using the Gosu game development libary? Isn't Gosu a 2D enviroment?

  • @TheodenN : thanks ! Yes, Gosu is a 2D framework, but I use it only to create the main window, the main loop and to load images / sounds. To render the scene, I use Ruby-OpenGL.

  • Woah! I love you! this is awesome. So glad to see such nice things being made with Gosu! Everything looks beautiful.

  • @UntrustworthyRainbow : thank you ! I didn't found enought time yet to write a tutorial about this but I'll try soon.

  • Oh nice. Liked the "zoom in" feature making the sprite alpha and the cross-hair.

  • bon travail ! continue.

  • C'est magnifique !

De quoi faire un grand RPG !

  • I'd say use a cylinder for the sprites collision ;)

And Ideally, you want the wall disparition to become semi-transparent :P

    But awesome Work Man !
