Democracy Now! Friday, May 14, 2010
Four decades ago, on May 4, 1970, four students were killed at Kent State University when National Guardsmen opened fire on hundreds of unarmed students at an on-campus antiwar rally. The killings received national media attention and are still remembered forty years later across the country. But the media has largely forgotten what happened just ten days after the Kent State shootings. On May 14, 1970, local and state police opened fire on a group of students at the predominantly black Jackson State College in Mississippi. In a twenty-eight-second barrage of gunfire, police fired hundreds of rounds into the crowd. Two were killed and a dozen injured. We speak with Gene Young, a former student at Jackson State who witnessed th

  • Thank you for posting your video for all to see.

  • Could Kent State have happened with cell phones? Could we so easily have forgotten about Jackson State if there were YouTube? I would even add Tianamen Square to the list of atrocities were citizens are now better able to fight back with the power of images as a means of civil disobedience. These events occurred in a vacuum of folks knowing about rights, and able to express outrage and opinion en mass. By the 80's/90's, this old media had peaked, but now it's in people's hands.

No I choose to focus on crimes already committed and not internet threats. It seems that whites are very sensitive. As much savagery as you guys have committed and you get really upset over so-called racist YT channels and comments and speeches someone makes stating you get just a third of what you have given. Then you want to flag and report and make death threats. Maybe you're just scared it will come back on you. Understandable.

  • @ShamelessNation

Not "as pissed" (that is your distorted position showing itself). I never equated the two. My "logic" lies in the simple premise that ALL forms of blind racism (speech included) are not to be tolerated if we are ever to have a racially-just society. I abhor (as I assume you do) any form of discrimination based solely on the color of a person's skin. "supervirtuouswomen" advocates the murder of individuals merely because they have white skin. You choose to defend this?

  • @kjdayton

And I guess you see logic in getting as pissed at a girl making some remarks on a computer and comparing it to the murder of two people.

    And it was MOST.

  • @ShamelessNation - I agree completely that it was not just a few whites that supported such unjustifiable behavior (What does "MOST" mean?) ... but it still does not justify the comments of "supervirtuouswomen". My point was that her comments advocated purely racial violence as absurd as that commited by the racist MS police. I guess every race has racists.

  • @kjdayton

It's not a few. Most whites supported this at the time. Learn the history.

  • TO "supervituouswomen" ... you're JUST AS racist as those policemen. Advocating racial violence is what led to this tragedy. Now if you said "those specific white policemen (AND anyone higher-up that ordered it) should be brought to (HARSH) justice" I couldn't agree more. Don't blame an entire race for the horrendous actions of a gang of rednecks in uniform.

  • This guy is laughing as he talk about the idiocracies that are being done to black people. The day is here for black people to kill you white m'fuckas.

  • Death to the white race.
