Greer Grant started out in Chicago in 1972 as the wife of a policeman, but after his death she volunteered for a scientific experiment by Doctor Joanne Tumolo that turned her into a crime-fighting heroine known as the Cat. She worked as the Cat for two years and then some plot manipulation turned her into one of the Cat People, a race of humanoids that evolved in Europe during the Middle Ages. In fact she became Tigra, champion of the Cat People and a shape-shifting kind of werecat. She was supposed to use an amulet to change back and forth, but she liked the Tigra persona so much that she seldom changes back. As a side matter, in another Marvel galaxy far, far away, years later Patsy Walker found one of Dr. Tumolo's leftover cat costumes and became Hellcat (see "Hero Worship - Patsy Walker/Hellcat"). Music is "Forest Murmurs," from Richard Wagner's Siegfried.
