@Jonny1drum I Knew I got the name wrong right after clicking 'post.' What I was trying to get across was that if we all just stayed with what we know without learning off other people and styles drumming would become boring, watching corps playing max rayne and nothing else gets boring itself in my opinion. And then when people do play something different they get slated and called 'rubbish' by people, it's all rudimental drumming and should be enjoyed. I'm a pipe band drummer myself.
Capacity2005: John "Bosworth" is the correct spelling. Of his all-night session with Alex Duthart in John's kitchen in 1972, John has often said it was "like meeting God. He drummed me up one wall and down the other." Alex returned to Scotland after that trip with a bag of tricks: backsticking, stick clicking, a couple Swiss licks and more of an understanding of corps-style drumming. To say that constitutes "most of what is played today" is incorrect.
@glenbawndog Maybe they should have just played Max rayne like every other drum corps does, eh? As for the American drumline comment, most of what is played today would not have happened if Alex didn't go to the US and learnt of the yanks. Backsticking for instance he learnt off John Boswell.
