  • Fantastic. He was my idol growing up. No one could play like Harry.

  • It is just what to say.

The star who had both sensitivity and technical both like him is not readily found.

    Thank you for a visit!

  • Like all great trumpet players he makes every note speek.

  • Who gave this only four stars? Are you serious?

  • @mariaromanoff This isn't Jazz its bigband music. Jazz is improvised music, and requires a totally different approach. Jazz 'can' be far more unique than bigband, since bigband was the top of the pops of it's day and was required to be repeatable n dance halls across the world. So king of Jazz, no he wasn't but King of the dance halls and big band music he definately was.

  • Honestly, I don't like your opening fanfares. Can't you leave the original music alone?

  • i can do that but with my tuba baby.

  • @bvb7589 - LOL! Good response, so well thought out and articulated. Your intelligence clearly shows. I never said my opinion is better than yours. I did say that you are a short-sighted idiot, and for that I sincerely apologize. That was very rude of me since I don't know you at all - you could be a very knowledgeable person. I also never said that you need to agree with me to make me happy - that is your interpretation of what I said. You are clearly a person of class and refinement.

  • Harry James makes his trumpet "sing" and "swing." He was the coolest cat! A true virtuoso! Everyone has their favorite horn player and he is mine.

  • @trumpetvids My understanding was the Goodman fired Zeke Zarchy as lead for James. And Goodman, uncharacteristically, then found Zarchy another job. Zarchy said that we he first heard James, he thought it was unbelievable "It was like fire coming from his horn." We're not talking some starry-eyed kid here: Zeke was a pretty fair player. The first time Lionel Hampton heard James, his comment to Goodman was "Pops, this guy can PLAY."

  • James could play anything. His technique was immaculate. If you play trumpet and you don't know that, you should be in another line of work. Yeah, there are a lot of great players. And James was one of the best. Period

  • king of jazz!!!!!!!
