I so love this song. I have a little girl and when I sing this song I change the words to fit her. As fathers, whether we have boys or girls, this should be our song, our prayer, to be like the Lord. Because they do want to be like us

My wonderful husband has sung this song to all five (soon to be six) of our children. He might not hit all of the notes on key, but it is beautiful music to my ears.

This is a rather short version of this song... but it carries such meaning. Years ago this became pretty much the song for my father and I and our relationship. I wanted to be like my dad so much. Now I look back now that I'm an adult and realize he did a rather decent job raising me as best as he could. Now that I'm out on my own, I remember this song and it reminds me of the fun memories with just me and my father, and it reminds me that I am blessed to have a spiritual father as well.
