  • You know what I think is funny? Gene didn't care what the populace thought of him but he was terrified what people who KNEW him thought. That's a down home boy.

  • this guy blows ,my pupper-fish .

  • @fhardyb Amen. Nice to hear the story set straight. Gene is my favorite singer of all time. Some come close, but no one sounds like Gene. He stood alone.

  • The pride of Rockville,Ct and the world was his stage Gene Pitney great writer, fantastic artist and fabulous entertainer,,Enough said.

  • as usual w/ Gene, an absolutely incredible rendition of a great song - reminds me why the older music was so danceable (& dig those hyper-groovy backup singers..)

his unique talents can not and should not be duplicated

  • Mick needed a hit in North America and had written a song called "That Girl Belongs to Yesterday", but he knew it wouldn't work in N.A. the way he had it. So he called on GP to "americanize" it for him. Gene obliged and recorded it to a hit song -- Mick's first in N.A. In that sense, and because GP had hit songs before The Stones were even formed, GP gave Mick & The Stones the break they needed. It wasn't the other way around.

GP is a Top 3 male 'pop' vocalists of the entire 20th C.

  • Very talented singer ,power and emotion, have many of his songs , too bad He's gone, we need more like him.

  • @rstp78 Gene was an international star. He was more appreciated in Europe than the USA. When the British Invasion came here, he went overseas. The Stones knew he was an excellent musician and sound engineer I don't think they were trying to jump start a new career for him. He was already famous.

  • @Tonithenightowl i HAVE TO SAY YOU DON'T GET SINGERS LIKE HIM , ANYMORE , AND THAT IS A SHAME , EVAN THOUGH THE STONES GAVE HIM HIS CHANCE , BUT DIDN'T LAST LIKE THEM , RIP.

  • THE STONES GAVE A JOB TO PLAY AND CLEAN UP , KEITH WHO IS STILL WITH US TAUGHT HIM HOW TO PLAY .. THATS IS KEITH FOR YOU , GETTING READY TO TOUR , **YES IT FEELS GOOD , TO SEE ALL THE STONES ALTHOUGH JONES WAS KILLED, JAGGER IS THE BEST FRONT MAN , AND SOLO AS WELL. GO STONES ,!!!
