@NineNineNineFour Hah.. U do realize that once you're a part of the colective ur essentally a slave. I doubt the decisions of the collective are dependent on the will of the drones. Also, as a drone your life is worthless to the colective, unless ur useful to them. They dont care if you leave or die. The colective cares about the colective not about individual drones.
Tho i gotta say, the notion of a hivemind, cybernetic modification to the body... fascinating stuff.

If the borg existed, I would get a spaceship and bring myself to them.

This was pretty freakin sweet, great job on this! :)

@GyozoNy someone has to make sure all the drones do something that ensures the survival and continous evolution of the collective, all hive mind based races have a "leader" of sorts so don't be so surprised ;))
-
@GyozoNy hive mentality isn't so sci fi :) its like you said, a psychology thing, the chinese for example, they work together collectively to achieve a certain goal no matter how hight the costs of achieving it as long as they do it and their nation has a future

I still don't understand why would the collective consciousness want to manifest itself in any physical form.
Anyway, I think we went way too deep in this, afterall its science fiction, and on top of that: Star Trek. Bigger issues were solved with technobabble or a simple handwave.
Just felt that not using the already overdone hive/queen theme, would have been better for the series. (as psychologically correct as it may be by human/ant/bee standards)

@GyozoNy hive mind = countless individuals, one mind, one voice, one reason to exist at all, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, if one drone dies, nobody cares because the survival of the whole is more important than the loss of the few
-
@GyozoNy you can't have a collective consciousness that manifests as a huge swarm dude because the counsciousness itself manisfests as a individual made up of thousands upon thousands of beings sharing one mind, you really should get more information about hive mentality dude ;) because no swarm is without a leader that gives it purpose or a drive to exist in the first place, the great devourer (tyranids) exists to consume, the borg queen exists to make the borg perfect
Hive mind is best mind... It supplements my individuality by no longer limiting me to my single perspective, essentially aiding me to become no longer restricted by time and space.
