anyone who is thinking of buying these they are great. I started playing guitar 17 years ago and used these to learn the majority of my stuff and then learned songs from a freind. after a long hiates ( over 10 years) i am back playing guitar. I dusted the old videos off and actually have most of my stuff relearned. Doug is great even had a chance to talk to him on the phone to. PRetty nice guy. Mom did not like it in his one lesson when he advised looking yourself in your room but until success

Yes, you should learn the name of all common chords. One reason is, when you're playing with others, it's the only way to communicate what is to be played: Okay dude, play an A minor then a G.
That's a lot easier than saying, "Play something that looks like this." You'll see. I'm glad that you're enjoying the course.

I got an important question, Im pretty sure I know the answer but..
Should I make sure I learn the names of the chords, if I dont will it hurt me later?
I have an old version of metal method from the 80s. Is the new one better and should I buy it?

@PlaguePriest88 That's a question that I get quite often. Trust me, we wouldn't have revised the course if we didn't think that we could do better. The new version is on DVD which makes navigation easy. There's on-screen animated tab which is great. All of the playing features picture in picture to see both the picking and fretting hand. So yes, you would benefit from the new course.

@dmarks1 yes I see... I want to buy the DVD but I live in Croatia, and I can tell for sure that I can't get the DVD here. Can I order it from some place which is closer to my country or I'll just have to order it from USA, which is fine but it's a bit expensive because of the shipping etc..

@PlaguePriest88 We only sell direct from the US. Choose the less expensive form of shipping (around $9) it will get there about as fast as the expensive method.
