The manufacturers of Humira (adalimumab), Cimzia (certolizumab pegol), Enbrel (etanercept), and Remicade (infliximab) must strengthen warnings about the risk of developing opportunistic fungal infections from these drugs. These infections have been fatal in some patients.

Humira, Cimzia, Enbrel, and Remicade are tumor necrosis factor alpha blockers (TNF blocker) which suppress the immune system. These drugs are approved to treat one or more of several diseases, including juvenile idiopathic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, plaque psoriasis, Crohn's disease, and ankylosing spondylitis.

  • @Agerian1234: Hey, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. I'm actually no longer on Humira. For some reason, it just stopped working for me and my psoriasis came back. I actually started Stelara about 2 weeks ago but it has the same potentially dangerous side-effects. I realize that you may not want to hear this but if given the choice of my body being covered 85% in psoriasis or death, KILL ME! Just out of curiosity, how did the Humira cause your mom's death?

  • @Kras3169 Beware...my Mom just died from Humira. Great medicine....not worth DEATH. Just want to warn others so they won't loose their amazing Moms like i just did.

  • @khutch29 Please stop taking Humira...It is not worth DEATH...My MOM just died on 2/13/2012 from a rare fungus that ate all of her lungs after being on Humira for 4 yrs. She had psoriasis real bad and the Humira cured her disease. NOW she is DEAD. Pleas be Careful!!!

  • @nicholaswatts01 BEWARE....Humira killed my mom recently...

  • @petergrealy Please be careful...My mom is Dead from Humira. Cured her psoriasis with Zero side effects for years, Now she is gone at 55. She was a brilliant woman. She is dead now. No more psoriasis, but Def. not worth Death. This medicine needs to be fixed, it works, but is def. killing people like my Mother.

  • @TheJulieShow My Mom developed a horrible fungal infection in her lungs and it killed her, I blame Humira...God Bless You!!!

  • BEWARE.My Amazing mother Heidi LoMonaco is now dead literally from Humira. She had psoriasis badly and was offered to go on a trial. It worked like a charm and she was on it for a few years and for free. Then all of a sudden last Oct. she experienced back pain which was discovered to be cancer, then developed a strange lung fungus that was not treated properly resulting from complete lung deteriation and my mothers death on 2/13/2012. Such a tragedy. I hated psoriasis, but want my Mom back!

  • been taking humira for 10 months now.i now have my life back,WITH NO SIDE AFFECTS!!!!

  • These drugs also cause fatal brain tumors... for those without side-effects... just wait, you'll get them eventually - hopefully it isn't cancer :(

  • If you say it's a load of crap just because you yourself haven't experienced any negative side-effects, you're a jackass! That's just you. Some people will experience side-effects, some wont. You're luck you haven't. I was taken off Enbrel because even though it worked like a miracle, I started getting sick alot.

That was over a year ago but since I was off it my psoriasis came back with a vengeance. I'm trying Humira this time, just started my shots today =)
