Oh really? I guess I don't understand the system ... it seems pointless to speak if no one is listening. At least it's on the internet so the people who are interested can watch it.
It's very common for no one to be in the House but the person speaking and (some of) their supporting MPs. It does make a mockery of the idea that rational debate occurs there. Just one more indication of how politics in NZ is one-eyed. No one really listens to the others in the House. Any real listening, MP to MP, happens in Select Committees and over lunch/dinner.

Does anyone know what happened to that TV3 news footage of MPs sleeping for the whole session?
I remember it was suggested that camera footage of MP's 'portrayed in an undignified manner' was to be made illegal.
