Yes, given the audience, Johnny put himself out there. Ira Hayes did what he had to do during his time in The Corps to stay alive. His skill as a Marine, his up-brnging as a Pima Native American and luck saw him through the brutal Pacific campaign. Sad he died the way he did; he saw the world for what it was. Rest in peace, Ira, you earned it.
