Hmmm. I bet we'll have a re-mastered version of these new effects someday. The ships don't move through the screen as smooth as the old models did!

@Nowhereman10 This is a result of something that happened in the history of Trek effects. In TOS they did battle at warp, and the graphics didn't really defy that. But in Star Trek II Harve Bennett wanted to slow the ships down so it would be more like naval battles of old. He had a good excuse by having both ships get damaged really bad without shields being up, early on. So it made sense. However, people got used to that look and it was copied in TNG and all future things without thought.

What?? At 2:09 we see the Enterprise go behind the planet, still large enough to make out its shape lol. I suppose the planet is about the size of New York city.

Excellent work. When Scotty engages the shields and gives that serious look, one of my favorite TOS moments of all time.

Wow, it looks like a pre-viz reel. WTF...

The effects are awful here. I think the original was much better. You can tell they rushed this one out.

I much prefer the old D5 Klingon to those birds of prey.

Ugh, this is one of the few remastered series FX I don't like. Showing a ship that is supposed to be closing on the Enterprise at warp 6 make such slow strafing runs is horrible. If they were going to do it in any way, they could have shown the D-& with the camera "following" it as it makes a run the showing a barely visible Enterprise flash by in a fraction of a second like they did in the remastered "The Ultimate Computer" warp combat scenes.
Ihate when everyone whine about the effects, think if they had done them like in lets say Enterprise they whould have stood out too much, i think the effects look fine and are really well made...

I notice a hurricane on the planet the Enterprise was orbiting at the start of the clip. Nice touch.
