Turns out that Gulf spill wasn't the monumental disaster they were making it out to be. I love oil, for what it gives us, I can live with a little risk.

Why would you have sympathy for people, just becouse they suffer?
If I (as an austrian) understand the phrase "to have sympathy for somebody" right it doesn't make sense in this kontext (at least to me...)
