WARNING - LOUD TODDLER! 3 month/2 years 5 month update. Breastfeeding agitation and nursing through a cold. I also want to add that I believe It is a mistake to arbitrarily establish distinctions between 'comfort nursing' and 'nutritional nursing'. Breastfeeding will always be about both, they are inseparable.

  • thank you so much for this video. my daughter, violet, is 20 months old and I feel that uncontrollable urge to stop BF. violet nurses at least once an hour all day and wakes every 3-4 hours (or less) at night (we co-sleep). I love that she has only been sick once in her life and I am into all the benefits but i still feel the urge. i don't know if i could wean her rather than self-wean but i'm not sure how long i can handle it. nevertheless i really appreciate your video. thanks!

  • @melodicmint Hang in there! I'm hoping it will get easier for you. MandeeTheGreat also has done a video on nursing agitation - she is pregnant and nursing a toddler.

  • well maybe when the baby starts solids n nurses less maybe your 2yr old will be less interested. Also u mentioned that every time ur 2 yr old sees u nurse the baby she wants to nurse too I suggest maybe when your husband is home he can give her extra attention something she love to do while u quietly BF baby in another room this might help her to cut down on feeds This is just something I thought of

  • @vancaner Yes, when my husband is home he spends time with the toddler so that I can have some "me" time. Thank you for the suggestion. Amazing that with three children being alone with 1 baby feels like me time! :)

  • I had that agitation feeling while nursing my son when he was a newborn and I could never explain to anyone what it was or what it felt like. It was the worst feeling and unfortunately it made me give up on nursing. I hope with baby #2 that does not happen to me again!!

  • @JenNTim509 I can understand why, it's very unsettling! Hopefully this time around you can develop some strategies to cope with it in case it happens again...

  • @vancaner You're lucky your mom did that for you! I was only nursed for 6 months.

  • @OLW2B Awww, thanks! I love her dimples too!

  • @ILoveKindergarten Her nursing manners are pretty good. If she gets too acrobatic I will stop until she holds still. I think she was pretty fidgety around the 2 year mark. I no longer NIP with her unless it is at a LLL meeting, however even there I usually do not. I feel the same way - mostly I want to respect everyone else's comfort level. I nurse her before we go out so that she is less likely to ask.

  • @alandamandamama Dawww, thanks!

  • @anygiventhursdayx Thank you! I certainly hope so.

  • @CharleenCC Thank you for the suggestion.
