  • great video man!

  • thanks!

  • WHoa 10 mintues it NOTY short!

  • lol i meant as in many vids as I have done before with other series.

MMIO is Mapped Memory I/O as in expansion cards on the PCI BUS.

  • Ok, if i ask this, can i have a simple answer to this, you can add more, but give an answer.

If i buy a iMac or PC, (the PC will have Vista 32bit) both have 4GB of RAM, and both have a 512MB Video Card.

1: Which will have better performance when it comes to games

and 2. Will both computers make use of all the RAM, both normal RAM and the VRAM.

Please answer. I'm understanding what you're saying, i'm just a little confused about the answer.

  • 1. Both computer systems will use ALL the RAM. At the OS level: OS X will give you back the MMIO lost to addressing back in Virt RAM and Windows will not as it does not need to, they have 64bit system for that as their answer. Vram is not always the best answer and both systems have their limits.

    2. In reality chances are the game was written for DX and ported to OpenGL so outside of what we are discussing with this topic as it does not really apply if many assumed variables are true, the PC.

  • solid state hard drives would certainly help especially with visualized memory

  • i was thinking about upgrading my ram from 4 1gb dimms of ddr2 to 2 1gb and 2 2gb sticks of ram. do you think 2 more gigs will speed up things? thanks for sharing the knowledge you have about computers. i love your vids.

  • Great video.

    Thanks.

  • Do you know if it is of to overclock from a 2.88 mhz to 3.0 or even 3.2? Would running the fan speed at 1400rpm damage the fans? I am running Smcfancontrol. Great video, very educational.

  • memory mapped i/o

  • So exactly what is MMIO?
