The Magic Blues Surfers and guests get together for another Big Blues Jam on Sunday night at Glasgow's Bar Gallus. Gus Monro plays blues bottleneck guitar really well. Jim Ward also comes in with a nice guitar solo. He also founded the Magic Blues Surfers and the Big Blues Jam which plays every Sunday evening at 9pm in Bar Gallus at the corner of Church Street and Dumbarton Road in Glasgow's West End. Jim has worked hard to promote the blues in Scotland and over the years he has unselfishly given the floor to many musicians while standing in the background playing rhythms but is very capable as a soloist himself. Also playing are Sam Firth on bass guitar and Scott Pentland on drums. The venue is not far from Byres Road. At just over two thirds of the way down Byres Rd heading south take the left fork into Church St. You'll find Bar Gallus at the bottom of Church St on your right.

  • Hi. glad you like the song, but I don't think it's necessary for an artist to perform in exactly the same style as the original to sound good. However, I can understand that if you have a favourite version you won't be so keen on hearing it done any other way. I feel like that about BB King's the Thrill is Gone.

Anyway, I think Gus plays well. This weekend he's playing at a festival down south.
