Manly Palmer Hall was a Canadian-born author and mystic. He is perhaps most famous for his work The Secret Teachings of All Ages: An Encyclopedic Outline of Masonic, Hermetic, Qabbalistic and Rosicrucian Symbolical Philosophy, published in 1928 when he was 27 years old.

He was made a knight patron of the Masonic Research Group of San Francisco in 1953, although he was not raised until 22 November 1954 into Jewel Lodge No. 374 , San Francisco. He later received his 32° in the Valley of San Francisco AASR (SJ). In 1973 (47 years after writing The Secret Teachings of All Ages), Hall was recognized as a 33º Mason (the highest honor conferred by the Supreme Council of the Scottish Rite), at a ceremony held at PRS on December 8.

In his over 70-year career, Hall delivered approximately 8,000 lectures in the United States and abroad, authored over 150 books and essays, and wrote countless magazine articles.

  • This world is just one great big ride and we are the masters of our ride. We can choose between a conscious existence that is charged by fear or by love. Fear breeds a passive and submissive existence. We are love consciousness inhabiting a living, breathing earth. WE ARE FREE, ALL LOVING, HEALING CONSCIOUSNESS

  • oh yes baby, manly p hall in my ipod

  • I disagree, George Washington and the founding fathers were the greatest Masons of America, Hall was awarded 33degree for his own personal studies and greater understanding of the mystics, But I still like his lectures and he is a great philosopher of our time

  • The Best Mason that ever lived~!! MPH

  • Ma$onic order is about thievery, coercion & deception now ...

  • One of the greatest Masonic esotericians of all time. One of the last, too. The Craft has become so secularized -- divorced from the occult -- that it's just sad in my opinion. I can only imagine that Hall is rolling in his grave at Masonry's movement away from the supernatural.

  • @urcorrect Fair enough. I concede. :)

  • @kandiamo Well, he didn't quote it, nor did he specify a specific translation, but heavens in hebrew is always plural. I'm guessing the seven levels (Vilon, Rakia, Shechakim, Zevul, Maon, Machon, and Aravot) were converged into the simpler term 'heavens' in such translations as the KJV, but I'm not a biblical scholar. Just food for thought.

  • >> If you enjoy Manly Hall's stuff be sure and check out the organization he founded, the Philosophical Research Society. They've got all his books and audio programs. >> prs.org

  • Best Canadian ever.
