I do think a lot of the mess the USA is in started with George H. W. Bush, the CIA, looting of banks, etc back in the 1980's. Pete Brewton, an author, journalist, and journalism professor, talks about George H. W. Bush being a drug lord, organized crime, spook in this 1992 interview:

It is my core argument that the Connecticut State Police and Court personnel are complicit in promoting prostitution, vandalism, the break up of families, harm children, terrorize citizens, are involved in domestic spying, and there seems to be an official policy to use police informants to aid police in the distribution of heroin and crack cocaine.
