Description: Although "The Real World" has been a staple Speech and Drama project for many years, this is by far the best opener! Following this opener is scene one of many in this 1/2 hour episode in which the cast meets each other for the first time.

Educational Objectives:

Students will arrange themselves into collaborative groups based upon the character types that they will select.

Students, working in collaborative groups, will design a conflict to be present in the opening scenes of their THE REAL WORLD imitations.

Students, working in collaborative groups, will compose scripts for their THE REAL WORLD imitations utilizing script dialogue conventions and stage directions.

Students, working in collaborative groups, will produce their scripted THE REAL WORLD dramatic scenes before a videocamera.
