  • i think you also have an opinion of "unfairness" of shinpans. but kendo isnt just a fighting sports. and i guess they are not biased or unfair anything.

nobody should complain about the game results especially after shiai. just give them some respects.

also i hate ppl boo-ing or yelling middle of the game. thats total uglyness and wrong attitude for kendo.

  • 7:32 hiki men from Park wasn't a clear cut. Teramoto looks like he's dodged it and hit the side and looks like he had a go at Park's kote.

the scoring hikimen from Teramoto was very clean. Park did not have to dodge..he raised his arms as a late reaction to the cut.

  • that guy in the background needs to stop

  • @TheOldcountryboy it depends which one you want. most are weighed from 500$-2000$. Yeah. I know. I'm saving money up for mine though

  • Which one is Teramoto, and who's Park? Red/White?

  • @RakeBone have you ever locked swords with someone? you cant just break away and strike beacuse they will too and most of the time you both end up dead, not worth the risk

  • I do not understand why they keep their blades locked for an extended period of time....

Personally I wuld disengauge to get another swing but I guess the opponent is locking the saber so disengauging would leave me open...

Still, if someone wif Kendo knowledge can fill me in that wuld be greatly apperciated

  • That was a men any day.

  • Is the yelling from the crowd something new? If we'd done that at a tournament when I was a kid, we'd have been made to be very sorry.

  • @SaaErDetNok Giving your best, whilst remaining unperturbed by "the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune" is part of that, as much as anything else. I also suspect (without being certain), that those who do well in shiai at the highest levels - apart from being technically skilled, physically capable etc. are also (more often than not), better at moving through the formalities of it all, without being unduly disturbed. Cf. the well-known Eiga vs Miyazaki match. (Never said I was that guy ;-)

  • Personally, I don't *feel* the need for dissection of Shinpan "calls". The rules of yuko-datotsu are not as the rules of 100m dash or pole-vaulting - a judgement call is required, and we should know and expect that there will be calls open to disagreement, and mistakes will be made. In the end, though, Kendo is not intended to be a sport, and shiai is as much keiko as it is competition.

  • it looks like a lot of fun, i have a shinai already but how do i get my hands on the protective gear? and how expensive is a set?
