OK, not a 78 rpm record but I've allowed myself to digress from the 78 rpm theme from time to time, so here we go.
This record is uploaded to celebrate the fact that my favorite ice hockey team Luleå Hockeyförening (or Luleå Bears as they call themselves these days) is leading the Swedish Elite League at the moment. Of course this could change any day, so one better celebrate while one has the opportunity to do so. This single was recorded in 1984, the same year that Luleå Hockey for the first time was qualified for the Swedish Elite League. They have stayed there since then which is quite good for a team from way up in the North. They even won the championships in 1996. Anyway, even though I'm happy for the team these days, I can't really say that I care that much. Also I don't live in Luleå anymore, so I can't really follow their efforts very much. Still, when I was a kid in the 1980s, I was one of many fans who followed their efforts with joy and despair. The theme tune "Vårat Gäng" was played both in local radio as well as in the home arena "Delfinen" or "Coop Arena" as it's called today. The song is performed by a group of local musicians: Dan Bergman (vocals -- earlier singer in the prog rock group "Rekyl"), Sven-Erik Omberg (drums -- and drum teacher at my school), Bengt Wikström (bass -- who also composed the tune and wrote the lyrics), Tomas Engman (guitar), Michael Junell (keyboards) and Rolf Hedberg (also a former member of "Rekyl"). The record was issued by the local record label Manifest and must have been one of their last issues.
So, without anymore babbling: Go Luleå!
Har hört denna sång fast med en annan sångare, trodde det var originalet och inte denna som brukar spelas i arenan idag.
