I love the camera work in this scene, it seems to portray psychological instability. And the governess acted it surprisingly well!
-
Another theory is the ghosts are all figments of the imagination of the repressed governess.

@IfYourMomWereATaco Peter Pears is in every one of his operas, too.

@jmahlon What a ridiculous assertion. I'm sorry if it ruins his music for you to believe that he was into young boys, but there are books written about his relationships with boys he become involved with- not to mention the fact that one of those boys is a former teacher of mine. "Nearly every (gay) pedophile" won't readily admit an attraction to young boys, and so will live under the guise of a heterosexual so as not to draw any unwanted attention to themselves. Common sense, bud.

no he wasnt that just slander. He was a gay man, and nearly every pedophile is a straight man.
-
@jmahlon you know Benjamin Britten was a pedophile, right? that's why there are young boys in almost every one of his operas... just sayin

I just now, when attention was finally drawn to it, noticed the progressive change of the Governess' costume. Very clever!

@IfYourmomWereATaco I'm not sure where you got the idea that Benjamin Britten lived under the guise of a straight man - he and Peter Pears made it pretty evident that they were life partners. Any claim that he has ever pulled a Michael Jackson should be ignored, for it is nonsense.
