I'm amazed that 14 people gave this a thumbs-down. What normal person wouldn't like seeing the birth of one of the most fascinating machines ever invented?

Can't add much to what's been said already (trolls apart) except I did notice the absense of H&S.

Seriously though, having worked on modern locomotives for a few (ahem) decades, I have a tremendous amount of respect for what our predecessors achieved as engineers.

Still, my first reaction was 'wow! that thing is huge!'

Glad to know it hasn't been cut up.

More importantly, thanks to all those who post these films, they were meant for the public domain.

Back in the day when workers were actually able to work and get things done. Usually ahead of schedule and under budget.

Might not be a kid, just not an educated adult. He trolls all these steam locomotive videos. Its pretty easy to ignore him, that's the nice thing about comments, you can't hear them. Just scroll past whatever nonsense he rambles about. We all know how 99% or more of steam locomotives end their live, THEY do get cut apart for scrap. Its kinda like someone walking up to someone in a wheelchair and telling them they cant walk. Stating the obvious is not needed.

Apparently this locomotive is currently an outside display in Regina, SK, Canada, about 100 miles north of the Montana/North Dakota border where it meets the Canadian border. Plug "Canadian Pacific 3101" into your search engine and the website will pop up.

If these steam engines of old are considered such fantastic machines, what, then, do we say of the amazing factories in which they were manufactured with their gigantic cranes, lathes and hammers - to say nothing of the incredibly durable and tough men who operated all this machinery to build steam locomotives. Imagine the noise, the dust, the soot, the intense heat. Makes the end product seem all the more unbelievable. Those we still have with us today are to be all the more revered.
